Vacuum fillers, emulsion and pumped product

Pipeline detectors

Installed between the filler and the clipper, or directly after the stuffer. The detector inspects the product before it is packed, and an automatic valve or piston diverts the contaminated portion without stopping the line.

IN PRACTICEProduct effect and pipe diameter both reduce what is achievable on a real line.

Basic sensitivity figures apply under reference conditions. Salted emulsion and larger pipe diameters both reduce what is achievable — which is why we confirm on the actual product before quoting a critical limit.

Sizes

1.5" to 10" pipeline systems

Standard pipe sizes are shown below. Larger and non-standard diameters can be engineered to suit the application and connection standard.

Installation

Between filler and clipper, or straight after the stuffer

A typical setup combines the pipeline detector with a vacuum filler and an automatic reject system. The detector can be integrated with all sausage fillers, including Handtmann, Vemag, Rex and Risco, and supplied with the connection standard already used on the line. The metal detection signal can be sent directly to the filler, allowing the filling process and reject sequence to remain synchronised automatically.

The frame adjusts in both height and filling angle making repositioning quick and easy. A mobile version on wheels is also available where the unit needs to be moved for cleaning or production changes. Self-surveillance, data logging and integrated relays come as standard, with data access available via USB or Ethernet and digital inputs for program change from the production line.

  • Reject collection bucket — diverted product lands in a dedicated container instead of on the floor, and it can be locked where the detector is a CCP
  • Stainless steel piston for dense product, or a Teflon piston and product tube for temperatures above 100 °C
  • Test port in the product flow, so test pieces go into the stream itself rather than being held against the outside of the pipe

Why the enclosure matters here

Built for demanding washdown environments

Pipeline detectors are designed for demanding food production environments where hygiene and easy cleaning are essential. The product-contact parts can be quickly disassembled for thorough cleaning, while the hygienic design helps minimise areas where product residue or water can collect.

The detector is built in 3 mm 316 stainless steel, with IP68/IP69K versions available for high-pressure washdown. The rigid construction also helps maintain stable detection performance in demanding production environments.
