Detectronic SmartLogic
SmartLogic is the new generation of software for the Detectronic 607 metal detector. Intelligent Auto Learn sets up each product, a guided Performance Validation System documents that the detector works, and every detection, login and setting change is recorded on the detector itself.
Developed and made in Denmark by Detectronic, for the same 607 detector that runs on food production lines around the world.
What SmartLogic does on the line
The detection hardware is still the 607. SmartLogic changes how it is set up, checked, documented and serviced.
Intelligent Auto Learn
Run representative products through the detector and SmartLogic learns the product signal and proposes the setting. You confirm before anything is saved.
Performance Validation (PVS)
A guided test with certified FE, non-FE and stainless steel test pieces. Every attempt is recorded, signed on screen and stored as a PDF report.
Certificates on the detector
The Detectronic technician creates and signs the Certificate of Calibration on the touchscreen. It stays on the detector and can be exported as a PDF.
Event Log
Every metal detection, state change, batch number, login and setting change, with time and user. Exported to an Excel file on a USB stick.
Four user levels
Operator, Supervisor, Quality and Technician, each with its own PIN. Functions above a user's level stay locked.
Product management
Product programs can be renamed, exported and imported by USB, and the detector asks before unsaved changes are lost.
Self-diagnosis in plain text
The detector checks itself continuously. If something is wrong it goes into Error, shows the cause and what to do, and records it in the Event Log.
16 menu languages
Operators work in their own language, including languages with other alphabets such as Arabic and Chinese. The language is changed on the touchscreen.
Signed software updates
Updates are installed from a USB stick. The detector accepts only software signed by Detectronic, and programs, settings and the Event Log are kept.
Intelligent Auto Learn
Setting up a new product used to depend on the experience of the person at the machine. With Auto Learn, the detector does the measuring and the operator confirms the result.
- Start. Select Auto Learn and have a few representative products ready. The detector sets the right mode by itself.
- Learn. Pass the product through the detector. SmartLogic learns the product signal. Nothing is rejected while it learns.
- Confirm. The result shows the learned setting and the margin. Confirm to save it and return to Automatic, or cancel to keep the previous program.
Two optional steps follow directly after Auto Learn. Metal Check passes the product with each test piece once and confirms that FE, non-FE and stainless steel are found, without changing any setting. Advanced Optimisation uses the product and the test pieces to look for a more sensitive setting with enough margin; nothing is saved without your confirmation.
Product programs can still be set manually by a technician when that is the better choice for the application.
Performance Validation System (PVS)
Periodic testing with certified test pieces is part of every HACCP plan. PVS turns that test into a guided procedure on the detector, and the record is created as the test is carried out.
- Per product, on schedule. Test pieces and certificate numbers are set per product, with a completion window. The main screen shows when a test is due or overdue.
- Nine required passes. FE, non-FE and stainless steel at the leading edge, centre and trailing edge. PASS is shown only when all nine are detected and rejected.
- Every attempt recorded, including misses and retries, with the reject confirmed for each pass.
- Signed on the touchscreen. The name and signature are stored with the record.
- A PDF report that cannot be changed. The record is closed when it is signed and cannot be edited or deleted on the detector. A record check confirms that the content is unchanged.
- Export in one touch. One report, or all reports, to a USB stick.
The right access for every role
Each function has its own access level, so changes are made by the person responsible for them, and the Event Log shows who did what and when.

The access table can be configured on the detector. Each level has its own PIN.
Calibration certificates
After service, the authorised Detectronic technician creates and signs the Certificate of Calibration directly on the detector. It shows the detection levels per metal, is valid for 12 months, shows the next calibration date and can be exported as a PDF. No more searching for where the certificate was saved.

New 607 detectors are delivered with SmartLogic. It runs on the 607 touchscreen control unit, which is used across our conveyor, pipeline, free fall and feeding conveyor systems.

Upgrade your existing Detectronic detector
SmartLogic is not only for new machines. Many existing Detectronic 607 detectors with the touchscreen control unit can be upgraded to the new software.
- Send us the serial number. You find it on the rating plate on the detector head, for example 4401-2.
- We check your detector. Detectronic checks the machine and its control unit and tells you which upgrade path applies.
- Your data is kept. On a software upgrade, product programs, reject times, encoder settings, language and the Event Log stay on the detector.
What decides the upgrade path. Compatibility and the upgrade procedure depend on the machine and the generation of its control unit. Older keyboard-controlled detectors may require a new control unit. We confirm this before you commit to anything.

What is Detectronic SmartLogic?
SmartLogic is the control software for the Detectronic 607 metal detector, released as software version 9.3. It adds Intelligent Auto Learn, the Performance Validation System, calibration certificates on the detector, an exportable Event Log and four user levels.
What does Auto Learn do?
Auto Learn measures the signal of your product while it is passed through the detector and proposes the detector setting with a margin. The operator confirms the result before it is saved. Optional Metal Check and Advanced Optimisation steps can follow straight after.
Can my existing detector be upgraded?
Many existing 607 detectors with the touchscreen control unit can be upgraded. It depends on the machine and its control unit, and older keyboard-controlled detectors may need a new control unit. Send us the serial number and we will confirm the options.
Does SmartLogic replace our test procedure?
No. SmartLogic guides and documents the test with your certified test pieces, so the record is created on the detector while the test is carried out. The test frequency and test pieces are still defined by your HACCP plan.
