Detectronic has designed and manufactured metal detection equipment for the food industry since 1986. Engineering, production, test centre and service organisation sit in one place in Denmark.
Detectronic has machines installed in more than 100 countries, and around 95% of what we build is exported. We reach those markets through a worldwide distributor network built up over four decades, supported by group companies in India, China and Thailand.
Forty years of building detection equipment
Detectronic marked its 40-year anniversary on 26 June 2026.
A family-owned manufacturer, now in its second generation
Detectronic is operated today by Detectronic-ApS, VAT DK44761882, at Porsborgparken 8D, 9530 Støvring, Denmark. Production, engineering, the test centre and the service organisation all continue in Støvring, staffed by the people who have built and serviced Detectronic equipment for years.
The company is family-owned. Brian Poulsen has extensive experience in metal detection for the food industry and has led Detectronic for many years. His son, Andreas Poulsen, has joined the business as COO and is involved in its continued development and day-to-day operation, including commercial development, operations and the international distributor network.
That is a deliberate arrangement rather than a sentimental one. A customer specifying a metal detector is making a decision with a fifteen- to twenty-year service horizon, and is entitled to know that the manufacturer will still be there — with the drawings, the spare parts and the same people — for the whole of it. Family ownership lets us plan on that timescale instead of a quarterly one.
Detectronic remains an independent Danish manufacturer with no intention of becoming anything else. We continue to invest in the product programme, in production capacity and in the distributor relationships that took forty years to build.
